Afternoon tea scones

So many tea parties…

Spring is usually a bit of a warm up to summer…a few tea parties and weddings before the main season kicks off in June, however this year has been a bit different. I’ve had more enquiries for tea parties than I could supply, so I’ve decided to focus Vintage Flair on luxury tea party celebrations and I’ve set up a new business called Harriet’s Table for wedding tables with a boho influence. I found my business was being pulled in two directions so this seemed the logical split.

There has been lots of afternoon tea celebrations for baby showers, wedding anniversaries and Christenings being hosted in village halls and private venues (some beautiful private venues). I visited one venue in Sidcup, South East London twice in one month supplying vintage cake stands and tea sets for afternoon tea anniversary celebrations. One was a 60th wedding anniversary with 90 guests! Impressive to say the least as I don’t think I know 90 people and still in my 30’s (just!).

In my world…

On a personal level, my family and business have outgrown our house (too many crates of vintage china!)! We are in the process of  relocating to East Grinstead over the next few weeks. We’ve purchased a project Victorian semi which needs a full renovation! I think we are slightly mad but it will be worth it once it’s finished. As it’s going to be a project I have to move all of my business into a storage unit near Tunbridge Wells, where I will be working from until next year.  I will still be supplying the whole of the South East including Essex and Kent but it will now be easier to also supply Surrey and Hampshire. I’ll keep you all updated on the progress via Instagram!

National Afternoon Tea Week

As next week (14th-20th August) is National Afternoon Tea Week, I thought I’d share with you a scone recipe. I was lucky enough to samples these delights at a friends house last week and they were perfect. This is a Jane Hornby recipe and can be found via the BBC Good Food website. I hope you all enjoy the rest of the summer spending time with family and friends. I’m off to France next week where I’ll be drinking wine and eating lots of lovely food.
