It has been a delight working with Lorna and Alex as they are such a lovely, friendly couple who always compliment us on our vintage items! When we saw Lorna and Alex the day after their wedding, they both had big smiles on their faces and said “we had the most amazing day and everywhere we looked was pure chintz; it was perfect – just as we wanted”

After seeing a snowy picture of their ideal wedding venue in a magazine, Lorna & Alex chose Chiddingstone Castle in Kent for their ceremony and reception. Lorna admitted to having a little cry during a visit to the Castle as she was so in love with the beautiful building and gardens. We were lucky enough to take a peek around the grounds and would highly recommend this truly stunning wedding venue.

Lorna and Alex put a huge amount of time into the planning of their wedding. With the help of family and friends they made bunting, name tags, stationary and pretty favours which were jam jars filled with sweets. They made their jewellery from vintage broaches and Lorna’s talented mum made their stunning cake. Some of Lorna’s friends even made her a chintzy apron to wear during the meal which they had hand stitched ‘Mrs Dilley. Perfect Wife Perfect Dress’.

The majority of the items hired from Vintage Flair were used in flower displays throughout the venue. This is the first wedding where our sugar bowls, gravy boats and bon bon dishes were used for flowers –  a nice original idea to add a quirky touch to the tables.

We asked Lorna what advice she would give to other brides planning a vintage themed wedding and she recommends making picture boards of ideas, visiting antique fairs to pick up unique pieces, getting ideas from wedding blogs and being creative; putting as much of a personal touch to the day as possible. Although this is hard work, Lorna said it was well worth it on the day.

All of the flowers were supplied by Distinctly Floral (http://www.distinctlyfloral.co.uk/index2.html) from Hadlow, Kent who also supplied some of the earthenware pots and jars – we have to thank for these lovely pictures. Take a look at these unique displays:

The items supplied by Vintage Flair to help create this look were: china cups & saucers, side plates, lace tablecloths, china sugar bowls, china milk jugs, a silver candelabra, a glass water jug, china teapots, silver teapots, glass bon bon dishes, glass medicine bottles (variety of colours), glass cake stands, a gravy boat, glass vases, vintage inspired picture frames, a china tureen and lots and lots of strings of pearls.
